Discovering Giving Opportunities That Bring Gratification and Results

Richard and Ann Frankel

Richard and Ann Frankel’s multifaceted philanthropy includes a charitable gift annuity with the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation.

Ann and Richard Frankel are committed philanthropists. Their gifts are not only personal, but also rooted in the desire to support first-class organizations. Having called Highland Beach, Florida their winter home for more than 40 years, the Frankels have seen firsthand the transformation of Boca Regional from a community hospital to an advanced, tertiary medical center.

A Crohn’s disease patient, Ann has had several trips to the Wold Family Center for Emergency Medicine at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. It was during these visits that Ann and Richard’s affinity grew for the care being provided by the hospital. They came to appreciate the doctors and specialists they saw, but also the “hidden heroes” of the ER—the nurses. Their admiration led them to make a very generous gift to name a nurse workstation in the Emergency Department.

Ann and Richard are firm believers in exploring ways to give back, whether that is through volunteering, giving a cash gift, or seeking options through planned giving. One thing that the Frankels considered is that in choosing to make a legacy gift, it ensures that your philanthropy goes on to serve the generations to come. With Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Ann and Richard chose to establish a charitable gift annuity. For them, this was the right gift option for their life now.

A charitable gift annuity is a contract between a donor and a charity with the following terms: As a donor, you make a sizable gift to charity using cash, securities, or possibly other assets. In return, you become eligible to take a partial tax deduction for your donation, plus you receive a fixed stream of income from the charity for the rest of your life.

Boca Regional is not the only healthcare facility that has been so fortunate to receive a generous gift from the Frankels. Lakenau Institute for Medical Research/Main Line Health and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia are just a few of the other organizations that they have given to throughout the years. Ann and Richard hold firm to the belief that state-of-the-art medical care should be available to every community. No one should have to travel to receive expert care.

With the campus renovations happening at Boca Regional, the Frankels knew this was the right time to become involved with the hospital. Keeping the Promise…The Campaign for Boca Raton Regional Hospital has almost reached its fundraising goal of $250 million. The modernization that this initiative will bring to the medical services at the hospital will transform the healthcare landscape in Boca Raton.

“It is very reassuring to know that we will be taken care of with the highest level of expertise if we should ever need it,” states Ann.

Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation is truly grateful for Ann and Richard and their generous gift to Keeping the Promise. Our hospital has grown to become the preeminent regional leader in healthcare delivery because of donors like the Frankels, who believe in having excellent healthcare for all.
